Quick Wins
10 ways to uplevel your home without major hassle or investment
1. Change up your throw pillows and bed linens: by far the simplest way to refresh a space is by changing your linens and throw pillows. If your walls are a neutral color you can change the tone of a room from blue to green to neutral and beyond, with this simple move.
2. Bring the outside in: nature has a calming effect on the nervous system. Do yourself and your family a favor by bringing in fresh cut flowers and houseplants. Fresh cut flowers uplift the mood and spirit while houseplants improve air quality and infuse nature into your space.
3. Declutter: Congested passageways and surfaces make us feel internally congested and chaotic. Make sure all items have a “home” and get in the habit of returning them to it. Clean unobstructed areas bring us a sense of calm and ease, we all deserve that.
4. Doors & Windows: Do not block them! Furniture obstructing doorways and large items on windowsills disrupt the flow of energy. Visual blockages like this create tension and blockages within our personal energy systems.
5. Use mirrors: A well placed mirror will make a space look larger. They can also be used to duplicate a beautiful view creating the illusion of an additional window.
6. Consider doorways: Doorways can create an element of security or insecurity depending on where we place our furniture in relation to them. A doorway behind you when you are at your desk can create a startling effect (think someone sneaking up on you). If there is no way around this, put a mirror on your desk so that you are able to see behind you. The same goes with the bedroom. From the bed you should be able to easily see someone entering the room.
7. Open the windows: When weather permits, open the windows in the whole house to get a cross breeze. Changing out the air in your house dumps stagnant energy from your space while bringing new energy in.
8. Rugs: Add a rug or change out a rug. A rug can bring together a space that doesn't quite feel cohesive yet. Changing out an old rug quickly refreshes a space and changes the look without a big lift.
9. Crystals: Add some large pieces of crystal throughout your home. Crystals are conduits of energy and help keep spaces flowing and feeling good. You really can’t go wrong with any, trust your intuition, if you feel drawn to a certain crystal get it. If you aren't sure what to get, go for clear Quartz.
10. Do not allow neglect: a neglected space in your home, is a neglected space inside of yourself. There should be no area in your home that you avoid. If there is, it must be resolved by asking the right questions. Why don’t I like this space? Why am I avoiding it? What do I want this space to provide?
